Mr. Kennedy spent the first 25 years of his professional career as a sportswriter and editor in Western Massachusetts. He worked the final 16 years of that time with the Springfield Republican. He has covered both a men's and women's NCAA Final Four and four Super Bowls. For the final eight years as a journalist, he covered the New England Patriots on a daily basis.

Mr. Kennedy is in his eighth year at E.O. Smith, teaching sophomores and juniors each year, and his 11th year of teaching overall. He enjoys playing golf and riding his bicycle with his wife during his free time.

The newspaper club he advises represents an opportunity for students to share their voices on topics of their choosing in an appropriate, engaging, thoughtful, and enjoyable way. Students are certainly free to write about their teams and clubs once touching base with Mr. Kennedy about parameters for contributions.
