Challenging Read: Yes, a bit lengthy and not an action story. It takes some time, so one has to like that type of read.

What I liked: The two central characters cause conflicting emotions in readers. We can root for them, but, at times, it is not so easy to do that. The story is nicely written, an enjoyable yarn, and it highlights the difficulties faced by immigrants attempting to find their footing in this country.

What could have been better: The story slowed a bit for me about two-thirds through, but it finished strong.
