This 2025-2026 season has been proved to be a triumphant year for productions. E.O. Smith has put on three Drama Club shows, one annual musical, one talent show, and will put on one Unified Theater production in June. E.O. Smith continues to be a school with constant opportunities for every student passionate in the arts.
In the Fall, E.O. Smith’s drama club put on its first play since the transition to new advisors–Ms. Beaupre and Mr. Sivo. Both of which are social studies department teachers and have proved to be excellent advisors. Alice Vs. Wonderland was a comedic and delightful spinoff of Alice In Wonderland, performed for three nights on October 24th, 25th, and 26th. Many people attended to watch the cast and crew of 36 students.
Soon after, E.O. Smith’s second annual musical began production–The Music Man, directed by three marvelous staff members: Mrs. Halle (Director), Mrs. Hanzlik (Musical Director), and Mrs. Webster (Musical Director). The Music Man had a rather large team, involving 31 cast members, 11 crew members, and 20 instrumentalists. They performed for three days and had outstanding attendance once again. The musical has had a large impact on the community; Mrs. Halle explains the importance of having these musicals at E.O. Smith, “they bring a lot of people into our school to see something really positive and something that students have worked really hard on. We bring a lot of community members in for athletic things and so I think that it’s really important to bring people together for something else.”
On March 11th, E.O. Smith put on a unique talent show, hosted by the Class of 2026 and EOS Choirs. The talent show contained 20 acts, ranging from dancers to instrumentalists. The show was able to captivate the wonderful talents E.O. Smith students have to offer. It proved to be another success for the Arts Department here at E.O. Smith.

This year, the Drama Club brought back senior directed plays! Seven Minutes In Heaven directed by Evie Sinclair, and Oz directed by Julia Burns, played for three days on May 1, 2, and 3. The club is thrilled to have brought senior directed shows back due to the excitement and creativity they bring. Director Evie Sinclair wanted to revive the lost opportunity the shows provided, “I wanted to allow for the sophomores and freshmen to experience what drama club was like before Ms. Abercrombie passed the torch.” Additionally, Director Julia Burns conveys her enthusiasm: “Drama club is extremely fun and welcoming, and there is a very wide range of things to do, between acting and tech, so most people will be able to find something that they enjoy. The final productions are always very rewarding and everyone working together feels like a very supportive environment overall.”
Students hope this tradition continues for many years to come–offering the same opportunity to rising students
Additionally in June, the Unified Theater program will have its annual production as well. This year being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Based on past shows, there is no doubt it will be a success. Stay tuned for more information.
It cannot go unnoticed that with the planned departure of Ms. Abercrombie, her impact on the drama department will be undeniably unforgettable. She has worked at E.O. Smith as a drama and arts department teacher for years, and has created the fundamental foundation of the program. She is a successful writer, and her immense passion shows through her classes as a teacher. On behalf of the countless students you (Ms. Abercrombie) have impacted, thank you.
E.O. Smith has an amazing fine arts department filled with dedicated teachers. Students are already anticipating next year’s productions. We are always looking for new members of the drama club and participants for the next musical, and it is encouraged to reach out to one of the several advisors to support the programs in any way.
